Hot Rats at the
Carlton Flats
The Anna Wearne Trust
supported Hot Rats Drama Classes, a drama project established by two
young women for young people living in the Carlton-Parkville Inner City
High Rise Flats. The initial aim of the project was to make accessible the
world of drama and in that process to foster communications skills, a wide
range of performance skills including playwriting, puppetry, set design and
creation, music and loads of fun.
And from little things
big things grow. Now Hot Rats Drama Classes is a grand scale
community project that has secured enough money and support to run for two
years. The project works towards a visual theatre and puppetry performance,
and attempts to integrate into the performance the diversity of people
within the flats.
The Anna Wearne Trust
would like to congratulate the two young women whose unpaid work over a
number of years has led to the creation of an ever-expanding project.
You're an inspiration to us all!
